Greetings and salutations citizens.
Again I can't help but note the distance of time between my postings and Rida's. Of course Rida has a built-in advantage that she gets to talk about all of the awesome cover art and intriguing back-cover text, whereas my stuff is more about…um…well reading and editing and occasionally server work.
Yes, I'm clearly less cool in this equation.
Still I mustn't complain. I still get cool stuff! The fine people in our submissions group earmark sci-fi and fantasy and stuff that doesn't easily fit into genres my way. (Some of that, I gotta admit, can be scary) I do get to work with some very cool authors and artists, even if they don't always know it – since Rida is the face of the company they sometimes don't realize when my fingerprints get on their manuscripts. (That's a neat trick in this computer age).
Plus Rida and I get to enjoy together one of the really cool aspects of this business that still hasn't gotten old for us: when a brand new, freshly printed book arrives for the very first time. A lot of work goes into these things- it ain't over just because the writer finished! – and when the final product comes in, gleaming and bright and waiting to be cracked open and READ…that's pretty dang cool, even if we've had it happen now dozens of times now.
