Typically the start of a new year is a fine time to sit back, take a breath, maybe check the road behind, survey the road ahead, and generally soak it all in for a moment.
Sounds nice. But it doesn't always get to work out that way.
The passage from 2010 to 2011 slipped by like a train in the night – bright and loud for a moment but then gone. The Princess has recounted the time we spent with a Visitor, here, and that certainly captured a lot of attention from the new year proceedings.
And now we're two weeks in and certainly things are going much like they did in 2010. Too much noise of politics in DC on our TV. Noise is never good news, but there rarely is much good news either way.
I suppose the weather here in Maryland has been a lot more forgiving than last year, when we were buried under Snowmageddon for much of January and February. I sort of miss seeing everything covered in white, but at the same time I clearly remember shoveling more last year than any other time in my life.
Still the cold certainly promotes staying in and reading – I think we can all agree that's a plus of the season.
In any case, hope your 2011 is going well. And whether you have time to observe the road behind or the road ahead, make sure you make the time to observe some good reads!
