Man, are we only on the 11th letter? Not even at the MIDPOINT for this krazy exercise? Who are we kidding, here?
What do you mean, "Get to the point!" What makes you think I HAVE a point?
Oh, the word, you mean. Get to the word. Today's word. For K.
Oh-Kay then.
Um.
K is for….
hmmm. Let's see.
Those of you who have been paying attention – thanks mom! – know that I've been hitting a few themes. Humor is an ever-present theme here, because it's the best coping mechanism we have for living in a universe that makes no sense. Philosophical meanders have also been a theme. And finally themes about me and my quirks have been a theme – humor and and philosophical meanders can be seem as a subset of that theme, since I am given to both, but we're trying to keep this amusing, educational and fascinating so we'll pretend it's three themes instead of just one, okay?
Good. Glad we are in agreement.
So. Back to K. We'll go to the theme of "stuff about me".
K is for Kriegspiel
kriegspiel (KREEG-speel) noun
1. A game in which miniature characters and blocks represent armies,
ships, etc. as they move around on a drawing of a battlefield,
used to simulate war and teach military tactics.
2. A form of chess where players see only their own pieces and the
opponent's moves are told to them by another person who keeps track
of all the pieces on a third board.
Basically, the german word for Wargame. And given that I am an avid wargamer – don't ask Rida how many games I play, because she might start gnashing her teeth, and then hit me – I decided it was an excellent word for K.
Beats the hell out of kowtow, too.
