Over a month? Man, it's a wonder Rida hasn't come kick me a few times. Or maybe she did kick me and I just didn't realize what it was for – I'm figure I'm probably due for a couple of kicks regardless of the actual reason. I do tend to misbehave.<\/p>\n
Anyway, what to discuss? <\/p>\n
Still working on our new server. Stupid freakin' Linux. I know my fair share about computers, but man I'm SO a Windows-person over Linux. (I think saying that on the internet means that several geeks don't get their wings – nuts to you guys!) Linux follows its own brand of logic that has been twisted up in a blender set on SLICE, DICE and OBFUSCATE. It's just painful to re-learn what should be simple stuff. <\/p>\n
Anyway. In addition to that fun, I do get some other actual excitement.<\/p>\n
For example…..<\/p>\n
Last Tuesday I went and saw COHEED & CAMBRIA and LINKIN PARK perform up in Baltimore. It was, I'm sad to say, my first concert in over two years. Lucky for me it was a fantastic show. We had general admission tickets – meaning that instead of cozy seats, we were down on the floor (well, that is to say, STANDING on the floor) with not a seat to be had. In amongst the crowds of people swaying and hopping to the music. I complained a few times to my friends that I feared I was the oldest person at the show – they were nice enough to point out a handful of older folks. With friends like these….<\/p>\n
Seeing live music energizes me for more. Makes it seem hard to believe that I've gone so long without seeing a show, and the day after, with my ears still ringing, I was searching the web for more shows coming soon. (Sadly I must report that nothing piqued my interest) One thing that I found amusing is that for a brief time – a day or two, perhaps – I completely understood those people who follow bands around constantly, like the legendary groups of people who traveled all the time chasing after the Grateful Dead. For a few days, I was almost there with them.<\/p>\n
Of course then I realized those tickets were $75 a pop and I didn't think the free-living lifestyle was ready to account for that.<\/p>\n
