{"id":1621,"date":"2007-11-03T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2007-11-03T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.draumrpublishing.com\/blog\/?p=1621"},"modified":"2007-11-03T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2007-11-03T04:00:00","slug":"a-small-moment-of-charity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ridaallen.com\/blogged\/2007\/11\/03\/a-small-moment-of-charity\/","title":{"rendered":"A Small Moment of Charity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.childsplaycharity.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.childsplaycharity.org\/img\/cp468.gif\" border=\"0\" class=\"linked-image\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So, as most readers of this blog know, I&#39;m a bit of a Gamer.<\/p>\n<p>(Rida is probably laughing to hear that &#8211; I&#39;m a &quot;bit&quot; of a gamer is perhaps a wee bit of and understatement &#8211; but let&#39;s move along)<\/p>\n<p>I&#39;m also a big fan of the webcomic Penny Arcade.  Two smartass gamers with the power to change the console and computer gaming industry with their whims &#8211; absolute power is pretty cool, right?<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, the fine folks at Penny Arcade created a charity for gamers to give back &#8211; basically they&#39;ve contacted hospitals across the US and even across the world and are giving them toys, video games, and the consoles and such to play those games on for the sick kids who have to spend a lot of time there, trying to get well.<\/p>\n<p>It&#39;s a really novel approach to a tough situation &#8211; a happy kid has a lot better chances of getting better than a miserable one.  And what better way to make a kid happy than by letting them blow stuff up in a video game?<\/p>\n<p>Anyway.  I&#39;m not preachy, and certainly charity is a very personal thing.
